San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 02, 2011

San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus Holds a "Name our Harvey Milk Artistic Work" Call via Social Media Channels & Crowdsourcing.

WHO: San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus (SFGMC) http://www.sfgmc.org in collaboration with a growing number of local and national partners. Check it out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNhxGblq9sM

WHAT: Help SFGMC with a title for a 60-minute multi-disciplinary performance piece that includes musical, dance, spoken word, visual art and multi-media components. This full work will pay tribute to Harvey Milk and articulate the inspiration that diverse communities have derived from his message of hope.

WHY: This significant performance piece needs a name! Instead of naming this performance piece itself, SFGMC is soliciting names, or titles, that capture the essence of this yet-to-be produced work.

WHERE & WHEN: The call for suggestions for the name will launch June 29, 2011 @ 12:00 p.m. PST and will close July 15, 2011 @ 5:00 p.m. PST

Naming suggestions can be submitted in the following ways:

Post to SFGMC’s Facebook Fan Page: http://www.facebook.com/SFGMC

Tweet to SFGMC’s Twitter Feed:    http://www.twitter.com/SFGMC

Record a video on YouTube and send the URL to our Facebook or Twitter sites

Email submit to info(at)sfgmc.org. Please put "Harvey Milk" in the subject line.

ADDITIONAL: As we approach the 35th Anniversary of Harvey Milk’s assassination (2013), there is a story to be told that will both commemorate the legacy of Harvey Milk the impact of that legacy on diverse communities. SFGMC and its partners look to create a multi-disciplinary performance piece to tell that story. This collaboration is designed to bring cultural institutions and audiences together around a project that will promote cross-cultural understanding, entertain and inspire many audiences. Harvey Milk understood that to be free, all disenfranchised communities needed to work together and this project will be a shining testament to that vision.
