Early 2011 CPA Exam Pass Rates Attest to the Efficacy of CPAexcel’s Courses

“As always,” said Ted Foley, Chairman of Efficient Learning Systems, Inc./CPAexcel, “they, the Professors, are well aware that at the end of the day, it is their students' success that matters.”

In June 2011, CPAexcel CPA Review, a global provider of CPA Exam study courses, brought together for a Conclave in Sedona, Arizona, some of the leading Accounting Professors and Authors, a few of whom also serve as Student Mentors for CPAexcel. The Conclave was convened to review and evaluate CPA Exam Review candidates’ latest pass rates and consider what learning techniques and content changes would be important to future candidates using the CPAexcel Exam Review Course.

Rahul Srivastava, President of Efficient Learning Systems, Inc./CPAexcel noted that, “We put our students first, and as the new exam formats change and candidates use different access devices anywhere, at all times of the day or night, that CPAexcel should add to their ease of use and efficient learning, review and lesson retention. In short, their learning should be personalized and synchronized.”

In March, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants released the CPA Exam scores for those candidates who took the test in January and February, 2011.

What the attendees at the CPAexcel Conclave found about the 2011 pass rates was both startling and gratifying. While the 2011 first quarter national pass rates were startlingly grim, dropping in double-digit percentage points for the Regulation section, it was gratifying to note that the pass rates of CPAexcel students actually improved and are up from a base of at least 87% in every section.

This exciting trend is due in part to the pedagogy of the CPAexcel course including Bite-Sized Lessons which feature seamless integration of the new 2011 content.

The professors identified ways to further enhance this effective course structure and to amplify the personalized learning approach for which CPAexcel is so well known. Many of these new features and changes will be released in the coming months.

Nigel Snow, Vice President of Content Development, reported that, “Overwhelmingly positive feedback and data was collected from hundreds of CPAexcel alumni to ascertain how effective the CPAexcel course is.” With feedback from CPAexcel students, he postulated how the CPAexcel CPA Review Course can evolve to meet the needs of future students.

All of the CPAexcel professors and staff agreed that our main goal is the continued success of our students because their success on passing the CPA Exam is our success.

The professors gave talks on specific topics dealing with the changing landscape the CPA Exam preparation industry. With the market growing globally, professors were interested to learn how CPAexcel is customizing their CPA review courses to meet the needs of those who will sit for the CPA Exam at international testing locations starting this fall.

Casey Bower, Director of Retail Sales, pointed out that, “The demand for CPAs is increasing: the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that there will be 22% job growth for accountants and CPAs through 2018. According to AICPA, at least 50% of all CPAs will retire in the next decade. This 'perfect storm' of increasing job opportunities and decreasing number of professionals is what places CPAexcel at the forefront of the movement to meet this growing need.”

After two days of intensive sessions, planning, and preparation, the professors returned to their respective universities where many of them hold endowed chairs. Each professor left with a renewed drive to continue to create the best CPA Review Course on the market: CPAexcel.

“As always,” said Ted Foley, Chairman of Efficient Learning Systems, Inc./CPAexcel, “they, the Professors, are well aware that at the end of the day, it is their students' success that matters.”
