The 5 in 5 Hot Raw Chef Video Recipe Contest sponsored by Living Light Culinary Institute announces that voting is open from July 2-July 14. Voters will be able to watch video demos from nearly 50 contestants, who will present raw vegan recipes with no more than five main ingredients, prepared in 5 minutes or less. Every voter will be entered in a drawing to win a FUNdamentals of Raw Living Foods culinary class for two from Living Light, and a 2-night stay for two at Stanford Inn by the Sea, a pet-friendly accommodation with extensive gardens, and a well-known vegan restaurant, The Ravens. Each voter will also receive an e-book with all of the raw food recipes from every contestant. The voting period ends at Midnight Pacific Time on July 15, 2011.
The 5 in 5 Hot Raw Chef Video Recipe Contest Grand Prize Winner will receive prizes valued at $1450, and have a chance to perform a culinary demo along with a group of eleven professional raw food chefs at the Living Light Chef Showcase, Hot Chefs Cool Kitchen, which will be streamed online to viewers internationally. Runner-Up receives a $450 scholarship towards any Living Light culinary class, and the People’s Choice award winner receives a $250 gift certificate to use at any of Living Light’s four eco-friendly businesses, including Living Light Inn, Living Light Marketplace, Living Light Café, and Living Light Culinary Institute. Hot Raw Chef contest winners and the voter-prize winner will be notified on July 20, 2011, and will also be announced on the Living Light website on the same day.

The Living Light Chef Showcase: Hot Chefs, Cool Kitchen, is slated for August 26-28. Twelve gourmet raw food chefs, including the winner of the 5 in 5 Hot Raw Chef Video Recipe Contest, will demonstrate a total of 24 gourmet raw vegan recipes for three full days. The showcase will stream online following the live event, featuring a diverse group of chefs from as far away as Iceland. Filmed with state of the art camera close-ups in a professional teaching classroom at the school, the step-by-step demos will highlight specialized techniques for learning how to create dishes that look and taste remarkably like familiar gourmet cooked recipes.
Living Light International has four eco-friendly businesses on the Mendocino coast of Northern California: Living Light Culinary Arts Institute, Living Light Café, Living Light Marketplace, and Living Light Inn. The Living Light Chef Showcase takes place every fourth weekend in August.
