Boomtownrack.com continues its local first initiative by sponsoring a social media flash mob. Utilizing the power of individual social networks, Boomtownrack will pick a local business, set a date and time, and encourage all followers and friends to show up at the location, check in via Facebook and Four Square, write Yelp reviews, and tweet their location to their social networks. This social media flash mob will spread the business' name and location throughout various social media avenues, effectively reaching potential local customers and increasing the business' web presence which is often a problem area for small businesses.

The owners of Boomtownrack are all too familiar with fledgling local businesses. Whether it has just opened or it is a perennial neighborhood staple, local businesses need the support of their community. In addition to Boomtownrack's support of Chicago's local apparel boutiques, they also support independently owned local businesses of all kinds. Social media is a powerful tool that needs to be taken advantage of. Putting these concepts together, Boomtownrack is beginning it's social media flash mob campaign this Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the Purple Shamrock Cafe in Chicago.
