Burnaby, BC (PRWEB) July 06, 2011
PICS Smartcard, Inc. announced today a signed deal with Orcanthus France to offer the company’s #1 ranked fingerprint reader exclusively in Canada, with additional rights to distribute in the US. Developed by id3 Semiconductors, the fingerprint reader technology performed extremely well in NIST MINEX test results, coming in with the lowest error rate compared to similar products from over 20 vendors.
As an established company in the identification industry, PICS Smartcard, Inc. feels this new addition to its line of biometric authentication products will further its goal of becoming the industry leader.
“With the biometrics market growing on average over 30% per annum since 2005, and fingerprint biometrics being the most popular, the partnership is a major strategic move,” said PICS Smartcard, Inc. Chief Executive Officer Caleb Simonyi-Gindele. “A lot of the early and most common biometric technologies are the easiest to compromise, so the need for a product with the proven strength of id3’s fingerprint recognition technology is apparent.”
The fingerprint reader offers a more secure solution for applications that are particularly sensitive to security or privacy issues, such as finance and health care. It is highly adaptable to a number of environments, including custom enclosures for proprietary applications.
