The rarity of the crystal and quality of craftsmanship that has gone into creating these makes them truly unique.
Harrogate, Yorkshire (PRWEB UK) 7 July 2011
The two-of–a-kind basins - costing £27,000 each (ex. VAT) – have each been expertly carved from a single piece of rock crystal. While rock crystal is commonly found in earth’s continental crust, it is hard to find crystals with the clarity and scale to make basins of this size.
The process behind creating basins of this nature is an intricate operation requiring a high level of skill and craftsmanship. The slightest lapse in concentration or error in judgement may result in the crystal cracking or chipping, rendering the beautiful material wasted.
The difficulties in sourcing rock crystal formations of this size, along with the high level of skill and craftsmanship required to create the basins combine to make them incredibly rare. The pair has been granted pride of place in a custom built display set at Lapicida’s Harrogate showroom - the largest natural stone tile showroom in Europe.
Jason Cherrington, owner and director of Lapicida said:
‘‘We are absolutely delighted to unveil these stunning rock crystal basins.
“The rarity of the crystal and quality of craftsmanship that has gone into creating these makes them truly unique, and demonstrates Lapicida’s expertise as an importer and retailer of luxury natural and reclaimed stone.
“The basins are showcased in our Harrogate showroom and we are encouraging all to come and view them – they combine art and craftsmanship in a beautiful and original way.”
