Even the brief pullback in fuel prices hasn't changed the fact that Merchandising Service Organizations, Manufacturers, and Retailers who employ field service personnel to travel between stores and ensure merchandising standards compliance are faced with huge increases in travel expense. However, a new feature in the VelocitTRACKER(tm) software is helping many of CRC's clients to cut mileage expense in excess of 20% through reduction in fraud alone.

Gerace took this back to his business analysis team and challenged them to find a solution to incorporate into the company’s Software as a Service for field-service onboarding, scheduling, managing, tracking, and reporting activity and in-store conditions, VelociTRACKER™.
The business analysis team designed an enhancement to VelociTRACKER™’s mobile computing platform giving Apple®iPads and iPhones, as well as Android®smartphones and tablets, and Microsoft Windows® mobile devices new features that will help CRC clients to drastically reduce fraudulent reporting of mileage.
The new feature requires that the vehicles an employee or independent contractor drives on a regular basis (up to 3) be entered into the mobile device database – along with the starting odometer reading for each. Then, as each store is worked, the field worker is required to enter which vehicle was driven, and the current odometer reading. Mileage to, from, and between stores is calculated – and can be checked against GPS mileage values for accuracy. Additionally, supervisor ‘spot checks’ occur when a supervisor meets with field workers and asks to see the workers’ odometers.
