IT PAYS TO BE ENERGY EFFICIENT

Our Energy Auditor courses... take students in to a house and go from top to bottom examining the structure and HVAC system. We are very committed to providing the most comprehensive training possible.

Priority Energy, LLC, will conduct on-going Energy Auditor courses at Asian Human Services, a Chicago Workforce Partner Agency. The BPI Certification classes will be available, at no charge, to any approved resident in Albany Park, Rogers Park and Uptown communities of Chicago who are unemployed or disadvantaged. Funding for this course will be through Governor Quinn’s workforce revitalization initiative and the DCEO, which pays for training opportunities that meet specific skill needs of local employers.

BPI and RESNET Certified instructors will teach students the relationship between all the systems in a house and their effect on occupant health, safety, comfort, energy efficiency and durability. Students will learn the fundamentals of home performance assessments, building envelope and HVAC testing. These courses will prepare students for the required exam, which upon completion, earns them BPI Building Analyst and BPI Building Envelope Certifications qualifying them to work in the industry. (BPI, the Building Performance Institute, Inc., is a recognized global leader in standards development as well as a credentialing organization for residential energy efficiency).

“Rising energy prices combined with the consumers’ growing demand for more energy efficient homes has created a market for well-trained, certified energy auditors. In addition, many organizations will be making BPI Certifications mandatory in 2012, such as Home Performance Standards for Energy Star Raters. We are excited to train and mentor people in this growing industry,” says Rob Schildgen, owner and founder of Priority Energy. “Our courses are not just classroom and book work. We take students in to a house and go from top to bottom examining the structure and HVAC system. We are very committed to providing the most comprehensive training possible.”
