Hendrickson Software Components (hsc) announced today the release of Gettysburg, a strategy Civil War computer game.

Gettysburg is an ultra-realistic, historically accurate military simulation of the Battle of Gettysburg, with a real GIS capability map including terrain data, ultra-realistic tactics that take into account the opposing unit's position, active troops, overall strength, fatigue, supply, morale, and the unit commander's command and control abilities.

The time: July 1, 1863. The place: Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The event: the most monumental battle of the American Civil War. Fight the Battle of Gettysburg as the Army of Northern Virginia under the command of Robert E. Lee, or as the Army of the Potomac under the command of George G. Meade. The computer will play a historically accurate opposition. Will decisions that you make alter the outcome of the battle? Can the Army of Northern Virginia prevail? Will you attempt the flanking maneuver on Little Round Top? Would you order Pickett's charge?

Gettysburg is available for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux users. Gettysburg has been tested on 64 bit Windows 7, and previous Windows versions back to Windows 2000, and on 64 bit Snow Leopard and previous OSX versions back to OSX 10.4, and on Intel Fedora Core Linux with GTK+.
