Naples, FL (PRWEB) July 07, 2011
The Economic Development Council of Collier County (EDC) won a 2011 Promotional and Marketing Innovation Award bestowed by the Florida Economic Development Council. EDC President and CEO Tammie Nemecek accepted the award at the annual state conference held at the Hyatt Orlando this week. The competition among economic development organizations throughout the state, recognized outstanding print media advertising and promotional initiatives designed to attract business and industry.
Winning in the category of ad campaigns, the EDC submitted a series of ads that featured Collier County business owners who have participated in Economic Gardening programs. AboveWater Public Relations and Marketing, LLC developed the concept and produced the ads in English and in Spanish. Partnering with Naples Botanical Garden and Soderquist Photography, each business owner was captured in a lush garden setting with the ads focusing on how the EDC's Economic Gardening program helps local businesses grow.
Jack Voth and Wendi Fowler, co-founders of The Client Server, Inc. talked about how the EDC helped put their second stage business on a growth trajectory. Thomas Riley Artisans' Guild President Ben Riley took advantage of employee training programs, as well as financial, technological and professional assistance provided through the local Economic Gardening program.
Orlando Rosales, who founded Media Vista Group and D'Latinos Magazine with his wife and D'Latinos Television host Mayela, said, "Working with the EDC has been a great experience because of their understanding of the challenges of a small business and their desire to help and adapt to our business' unique needs. With the Grow Florida program, we have received technical assistance for our core strategy and expansion plans with access to resources not available for a second stage small business."
