MORGAN Language Services Corporation, a global leader in the language services industry, announced today that it was selected by the Maryland Judiciary’s Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) to provide translation of vital documents to the Maryland courts on an as-needed basis. The contract is for three years with two option years for a total of five years.

“We are very proud to serve our home State of Maryland and its court system in such a meaningful way,” said Randall Morgan, CEO of MORGAN Language Services. “We have a great deal of experience assisting persons with limited English proficiency (LEP) to understand legal documents and procedures, and the need for language access in the courts in our state is intensifying. Just during the past decade, the LEP population of Maryland has grown some 22%, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. Roughly 260,000 Maryland adults now report that they do not understand English very well.”

Services to be provided include translation in Spanish, Russian, Korean, Mandarin and Vietnamese, among other languages. The Contract requires translators and editors to be certified by the American Translators Association (ATA), the preeminent U.S. organization for credentialing translators. “We have called in some of the most highly respected legal translators in the country to make this effort a model of success,” said Randall. “By providing the highest quality translations, we strive to be a valuable partner to the AOC in ensuring that individuals with LEP have equal access to justice in Maryland.”
