Sparta, NJ (PRWEB) July 10, 2011
Deacon Homes, an award winning new home and commercial builder headquartered in Sparta, was honored once again by the Community Builders & Remodelers Association of NJ (CBRA) with two distinguished Awards of Excellence for the Franklin Mutual Insurance Company (FMI) in Branchville. The firm received the coveted Best New Construction of a Commercial Office Building and Best Commercial Renovation over $1 Million for its unique, three phase approach to retaining the historic significance of the building, while updating and modernizing the facility for its 100 employees.
“We are proud of the awards, but even prouder of the way my staff and team of professionals worked together to meet the challenges of this unique project,” notes Phil Deacon, president of Deacon Homes. “FMI chose to continue operations in the facility while we renovated specific sections of the existing building and totally demolished other areas. We worked on tight schedules to minimize disruptions and ensure the employees were only relocated a few times when necessary.”
Some of the highlights of the award winning building included a new stone exterior to harmonize with the historic downtown Branchville streetscape; modernized mechanicals and HVAC systems for energy efficiency; updated information technology for enhanced operations; and a redesign of interiors and workspace for better accessibility, employee comfort and efficiency.
These awards join a long list of accomplishments by Phil Deacon and his team of experts, many of whom have been working with him for more than 30 years. Industry peers continually praise Phil’s hard work and dedication to the building industry for he strives to surpass the rigorous standards set forth by its members. In 1994, he was inducted into the Builder Hall of Fame by the New Jersey Builders Association (NJBA), and in 2001 the Association honored him with the distinguished Builders Continuing Service Award. In 1993, he was honored as the Builder of the Year by the NJBA and Builder of the Year by the CBRA. Both Associations have also honored his communities with numerous Awards of Excellence and Sales & Marketing Awards (SAMs) on an annual basis. In 2004, the Sussex County’s Planning Board honored Windy Brow, a collection of single family homes nestled against a working farm in Fredon, with Best Residential Development.
Through the years, Phil has developed numerous single family homes, group homes, senior housing, retail, commercial and office buildings as well as two private schools in Sussex County. He believes in reinvesting in his community and continually supports local and state charities and organizations. Sussex County Soil Conservation District honored him with Builder of the Year in 1995 and 1997 for his dedication to preservation. In 2004, he was awarded the Distinguished Citizen Award from the BSA Patriots Patch Council with proclamations from the US House of Representatives, the NJ Senate and General Assembly and the Sussex County Freeholders.
Future projects include additional group homes and 24 custom homes at Ballantine Woods in Andover Township. The new home community will be convenient to the new train station and features beautiful, wooded home sites on one to three-and-a-half acre parcels.
