“Students worldwide are realizing the value of earning Microsoft Office certifications, and participating in a global competition motivates them to master these programs well beyond basic comprehension,” said Ray Kelly, CEO, Certiport. “Our goal is to empower students, and the Worldwide Competition has proven to be a very successful vehicle for promoting and getting over a half a million students over the last nine years excited about industry certifications.”
The 2011 Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office marks the introduction of the 2010 Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Word and Excel exams, and also includes PowerPoint 2007 for the first time in the history of the competition.
MOS certifications exist primarily to meet the increasing demand for Microsoft Office proficiency among its users. Current students who passed a qualifying exam and attend an approved, degree-seeking academic institution were eligible to compete in the United States Competition. Participants who outperformed their peers by demonstrating proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint generally had perfect or near-perfect exam scores and completion times well below the allotted examination time.
