Introduces a New Standard in Usability and Sophistication in Business Analytics

eThority®, a leading provider of business analytics software enabling simpler and more intuitive insight for decision making and business process improvement, announced the general availability of version 5.0 of their flagship analytics platform, eThority Enterprise Edition. Version 5.0 sets a new standard for collaborative visualizations, user-obvious dashboards and sophistication with the expansion of PowerFields for robust calculations.

“This is a landmark advance for the eThority platform, which has almost two decades of market experience with analytics and data,” said Mike Psenka, President and CEO of eThority. “In the past six months we have continued to gain significant new customer deployments in competition against the leading BI vendors; v5.0 has made that happen. I’m proud of our entire company for their hard work and our customers who have made this possible.”

eThority pre-released version 5.0 to existing and new customers who confirmed the new software infrastructure and end user capabilities held to the company’s stated mission of providing “user-obvious” technology. Upgrading existing clients and acquiring new business ensured that the new version’s quality had notably increased since the last release and that v5.0 was ready for distribution beyond the current set of early adopters across human resources, academic and medical research markets.

“The renaissance of business analytics has arrived and our benchmark research has found that businesses need simplicity and sophistication to optimize processes and make high quality decisions.” said Mark Smith, CEO and Chief Research Officer at Ventana Research. “eThority Enterprise Edition v5.0 delivers an enterprise-class solution with powerful visualizations that enable end users to make decisions in a self-service manner. It also provides new innovation in embedding collaboration and annotation to the analytics itself, setting new standards for business analytics.”

eThority Enterprise Edition version 5.0 focuses on business users and analysts with its end user-driven interface customization, flexibility in defining visualizations, dashboards and calculations, information-sharing among workgroups and across an enterprise, and the ability to build self-documenting content for training and productivity purposes.

The new functionality improvements include:

electric Graph: eThority brought the design of the graphing engine in-house with Version 5.0 - resulting in:

  •     richer data visualizations that allow enhanced drilldown and interactivity
  •     on-the-fly formatting for simpler presentation
  •     an impressive array of new graph types and Smart Palettes for intuitive visualization
  •     collaborative charting with intelligent Stick Notes for annotation

Dash: End users can assemble interactive dashboards and briefing books by combining the wide variety of visual elements available in the platform including: electric Graph charts, eValuate columns, histograms, trend graphs, SuperPivots and DataBook tables. Dash allows non-technical users to assemble compile visually impressive and analytically powerful views of their underlying data in flexible dashboard forms.

Briefing Mode: Dashboards can be enhanced by adding text annotation to create a “briefing” for colleagues, partners or external users. Briefing mode can be used to walk users through the results in a step-by-step manner, enabling easier sharing and providing context to data visualizations and information.

PowerFields: PowerFields is a combination of pre-configured and user-defined functions that simplify the creation of formulas for inclusion in reports and dashboards. eThority 5.0 extends the library of pre-configured eXpressions available to users or system administrators to perform the following functions:

  •     Tabulator: Generate a running total or row-by-row change for a column
  •     Margin: Calculates margins, markups and difference-between columns.
  •     Ranking: Ranks the values of a column.
  •     Percent of Total: Compares an individual value to Group and Grand Totals.

Data Integration: Critical data can be quickly pulled and aggregated from multiple disparate sources, regardless of system. A comprehensive view of all important information can be available in a single location for complete analysis at your fingertips in a short period of time.
