Jet2holidays launch new package deals to the popular golfing destination of the Algarve as the McIlroy effect takes hold in Belfast

Rory McIlroy’s fantastic win at the US Open last month is inspiring more people in Northern Ireland to try their hand at golf. His excellent performance took the sporting world by surprise and finally announced him on the international stage.

Jet2holidays are now offering package holiday deals to the Algarve, famed for its wide selection of amazing green golf courses, after sister company, Jet2.com’s, launched a new route from Belfast to the Algarve.

Portugal has numerous golf-courses with the added benefit of sunshine!

Holidaymakers from Northern Ireland will now be able to make the most of the many different courses available in the Algarve. The area is considered one of the best for golf and even has its own open.

World famous courses such as Vale do Lobo, Palmares and Boavista have recently been joined by newly opened facilities such as Quinta de Cima, which is now ranked within the top 25 courses in Europe.

World Champion amateur golfer Danielle McVeigh from Kilkeel, County Down is particularly excited about the new route and package holiday options. She said:

"I compete in the Portuguese Open every year, except this year as I was studying for my degree in Business and Management in Maynooth. I also travel lots to Portugal for warm weather training and am delighted that Jet2.com has introduced a direct route from Belfast International Airport. With Jet2.com's low fares, it's going to be welcomed by lots of golfers from the North and South of Ireland as Portugal has numerous golf-courses with the added benefit of sunshine!"

The Promise of Beautiful Weather

One of the reasons that golf proves so popular on the Algarve is the promise of excellent weather. Whilst the UK has some excellent courses, the unpredictable nature of the weather often curtails plans.

The Algarve offers sunshine almost all year round, with temperatures even reaching the early to mid-twenties in winter months. This is why many golfers like to head to the Algarve’s shores to practice their technique.

Of course, the beaches make the area even more appealing. The many different towns and resorts also provide holidaymakers with a chance to enjoy the cultural offerings available in the area. The Mediterranean diet is one of these things that leaves a lasting impression on visitors.

Excellent Package Holiday Deals

Jet2holidays are now offering many excellent holidays to the Algarve, including resort transfers, 22kg baggage allowance, handpicked two to five star hotels and ATOL protection. Four-star breaks staying in Vilamoura, which is one of the best resorts for golf courses, are available from just £399 per person for seven nights bed and breakfast.

Such great deals are bound to inspire more to visit the area for some golf.
