One’s personal health is crucial to their well-being. Bedding products should not be a negative impact to one’s health, especially since it is common to sleep in a bed every night. The company Amerisleep has provided a healthy alternative with their memory foam mattresses. Typical Memory foam is made from a polyurethane-based mixture. The chemical nature of this memory foam causes off-gassing which can release harmful toxins.

The memory foam is not only eco-friendly; it also dissipates heat nine times faster than traditional foams and is the most breathable product on the market. Amerisleep also uses bamboo covers because it is one of the fastest renewing resources on the planet.

Amerisleep’s commitment to the environment is exemplified in the manufacturing process used to produce its line of beds. Amerisleep memory foam mattresses are created through a virtually emissions-free process called Variable Pressure Foaming (VPF). This is accomplished by using a closed chamber that requires less blowing agents than traditional foam production. The process allows for greater control of emissions that can be toxic when the byproduct of polyurethane-based memory foam.

The VPF manufacturing process uses pressure, instead of chemicals, to control the physical properties of the memory foam as it is created. The result is less use of auxiliary blowing gases, including methylene chloride, and there are no chlorofluorocarbons, acetone or pentane – volatile organic compounds that are considered hazardous to humans. This patented VPF process exceeds U.S. Clean Air Act requirements.
