University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry Hosts Annual Tournament and Auction at the Olympic Club.

Nearly 200 alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends of University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry recently gathered to show their support for the school’s Kids in the Klinic Endowment as they enjoyed a round of golf at the Olympic Club, one of the country’s premier golf venues.

The 14th annual Kids in the Klinic Golf Classic raised more than $80,000 to help fund dental care for children and families in need. Proceeds from the June 27 tournament and auction will benefit the school’s Kids in the Klinic Endowment, which focuses on supporting oral healthcare for socioeconomically disadvantaged children throughout Northern California.

Participants enjoyed an 18-hole round of golf on either the Lake Course or Ocean Course. The Lake Course will serve as the site of next year’s U.S. Open tournament, having previously hosted the 1955, 1966, 1987 and 1998 U.S. Open championships.

Players were also able to challenge golf professionals Ashley Gomes, Charlotte Mayorkas and Elena Robles who were on hand for “Beat the Pro” driving competitions on the courses.

After a day on the course, golfers bid on silent auction items while enjoying cocktails and appetizers. Mike Carroll, event chair and proud Hole in One contest winner, opened the evening’s festivities by presenting a trophy to the winning teams of Rick Eisenhour, Jason Foosum, Kevin Swimmer and Skip Volpe (Lake Course) and Adam Bouskos, John Montgomery, Aaron Rouleau, and Vincent Scott (Ocean Course), who placed first in the tournament’s aggregate best ball format on their respective courses. Dinner was served followed by a live auction offering golf packages, fine dining opportunities, vacation stays and more.

“So often parents are told they need dental care for their children, but can’t afford treatment,” commented Dr. Patrick J. Ferrillo, Jr., dean of the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. “This event allows us to provide the care that those kids need. What we do at this golf tournament is join together to help the kids of our community, while having some fun along the way.”

The Kids in the Klinic Golf Classic was started by Dr. Susan Bittner ’74 to raise money for the Kids in the Klinic Endowment. Today, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Bitter and many volunteers from the Pacific Dugoni Foundation, the endowment is on its way to reaching its goal of raising $2 million.

Numerous corporate sponsors from the oral healthcare field and the wider Bay Area community contributed to the success of the event. Gold Sponsors were Invisalign and Tiret & Company CPAs. Silver Sponsors were Dr. Arthur A. Dugoni; Bank of San Francisco; Delta Dental; KaVo Corporation; and Mitchell & Mitchell Insurance. Putnam Lexus sponsored the tournament’s Hole-in-One contest.

The event’s prize sponsor was hope & grace wines. Tee prize sponsors were A-dec Inc., California Bank of Commerce, Carroll & Company, Patterson Dental, Smile for a Lifetime Foundation and Thomas, Wirig, Doll & Co. In addition, 16 other individuals and companies supported the event through tee sign sponsorships.
