The alliance between Access and LaserBand enables hospitals to intelligently map patient data and barcode information onto the best wristbands available. When used alongside our electronic forms on demand product, this solution provides a one-stop shop.

To better meet the needs of hospitals and their patients, Access and LaserBand have formed an alliance that creates a seamless, all-in-one patient identification wristband solution.

As the Access Intelligent Forms Suite creates a barcoded e-forms admission packet, the Access Patient Labeling System intelligently maps patient data from any health information system (HIS) onto patient wristbands provided by LaserBand and converts the appropriate data into wristband barcodes. These bands and the 2-D barcodes printed on them are then used throughout the visit to ensure positive patient ID, to support bedside medication verification (BMV), and to ensure correct specimen collection. They can also be used to verify patient identity when using medical devices that support barcode recognition, such as electrocardiograms (ECG) and fetal monitors.

Other benefits include reduced risk of litigation, improved data accuracy, and faster patient admissions.

“The alliance between Access and LaserBand enables hospitals to intelligently map patient data and barcode information onto the best wristbands available,” said Access founder and CEO Tim Elliott. “When used alongside our electronic forms on demand product, this solution provides a one-stop shop for barcoded wristbands and e-forms that increase patient safety and support regulatory compliance.”
