The Inn at Harbour Town

Each guest room becomes its own peaceful, tranquil retreat, allowing guests to feel completely undisturbed. To us, we believe that the feeling of pure relaxation is an integral part of the total vacation experience.

The jewel of the Lowcountry. Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, has been a coveted destination for seasoned travelers for decades now. Island accommodations span the gamut, but for the ultimate vacation experience, vacationers in the know select the richly amenitized, award-winning boutique-style Inn at Harbour Town for their getaway.

Garnering an award-winning resume as a Four-Star, Four-Diamond hotel and its superlative designation as a Preferred Hotels & Resorts property, The Inn at Harbour Town has consistently been touted as the place to stay on the island.

But The Sea Pines Resort, the Inn’s holder and managing entity, has never been a company to rest on its laurels; rather, it has, since the company’s inception, improved on its countless amenities, including the famed Harbour Town Golf Links, which the Inn overlooks. The same approach was taken with the Inn at Harbour Town. Though already spectacular, this month, The Sea Pines Resort unveils a completely revitalized Inn at Harbour Town.

Since wintertime, The Sea Pines Resort has infused several hundred thousand into the 60-room boutique hotel, restyling the interior and guest rooms, as well as escalating numerous aspects of the Inn’s functional elements.

“We are thoroughly delighted to reveal The Inn at Harbour Town’s stunning new incarnation to our guests,” commented John Munro, director of marketing and hospitality for The Sea Pines Resort. “It has a whole new personality. In place of the formerly Scottish motif, The Inn now has a coastal-inspired palette of soft blues, muted greens and neutrals that reflect its Lowcountry environs….add in fresh appointments and amenities, and now, more than ever, staying here is a five-star experience that exceeds guest expectations.”

A multi-sensory experience was the approach the resort took with the enhancements at The Inn at Harbour Town. Not only were the sights of the Inn modified, but the auditory sense was considered as well. One such upgrade was in the soundproofing of each guest room, incorporating rubberized acoustic dampening materials in the walls and adding a door sweep to the bottom of each door, blocking both sound and light. “Each guest room becomes its own peaceful, tranquil retreat, allowing guests to feel completely undisturbed. To us, we believe that the feeling of pure relaxation is an integral part of the total vacation experience,” Munro explained.

To enhance the welcoming entry to the property, a sound system was added to the outdoor areas of the Inn for soft music to be piped in on the Fountain Terrace and under the porte cochere when arriving or departing. Newly installed tropical landscaping, ambient lighting, plus elegant pavers and planters craft a gracious exterior.

Guest Room Improvements

Each guest room showcases stylish, new furnishings, blackout-lined window treatments and luxuriant fabrics. Imported Egyptian cotton linens are on the bed, and additional touches of sumptuousness are found throughout, such as Molton Brown toiletries, offering a selection of four different aromatherapy signatures. Subtle but quality-oriented transformations have been made to the already-spa-like bathrooms, adding a rainfall showerhead, mirrored panels in the bathroom doors, and a bath concierge tray to the large stretch-and-soak bathtub.

The Heritage Presidential Suite, featuring two master bedrooms, a kitchenette and living room salon has been ameliorated as well, with elegant fabrics, window treatments and handsome design elements. The suite’s private and spacious terrace, which overlooks the sweeping Harbour Town Golf Links, has been revamped as well, including the addition of new Sunbrella fabric on its patio furnishings and chic accessories. An outdoor butane heater, present during cooler months, ensure that the fresh Carolina air can be enjoyed year-round.

In addition to graceful furnishings and fabrics, every guest room houses a sleek, state-of-the-art media center with 37” LG flat screen TV, i-pod and laptop docks, and a glass door mini bar.

The Lobby, Revitalized

Bright and open, the lobby has been rejuvenated with the airy coastal color scheme as well. The dark oriental rugs have been replaced by lighter versions and furnishings have been re-energized to replicate the seaside motif as well.

Internationally treasured artist, Michael B. Karas, was commissioned by The Sea Pines Resort to create signature one-of-a-kind oil paintings, which now adorn the walls of the lobby. Karas’s bold, evocative oil paintings have been compared to the likes of Winslow Homer and Frederick Waugh. Rich in color and sensitivity, his maritime paintings, which hang in the Inn, capture Karas’s own passion for the Lowcountry. Signed and numbered giclees of these original paintings grace the walls of the guest rooms at The Inn at Harbour Town as

“We were delighted that Michael B. Karas created these paintings especially for The Inn at Harbour Town,” stated Steve Birdwell, president of The Sea Pines Resort. “His brilliant artwork adds to the ambiance of seaside tranquility that the newly enhanced Inn at Harbour Town decidedly evokes.”

The Fitness Center has been upgraded with all new, state-of-the-art equipment by Technogym, plus free weights and a Universal workout station. Refreshing chilled towels, bottled water and fresh fruit complete the workout experience.

All of these enhancements to the Inn are slated for completion at the end of July.

Birdwell added, “We look forward to welcoming back returning visitors to The Inn at Harbour Town to experience it anew, as well as to introducing this very special destination to first-time guests.”
