Two Ten Footwear Foundation has announced the award recipients to be honored at their Annual Dinner on November 30, 2011. Daniel L. Schwartz, CEO of Schwartz & Benjamin, Inc. will be presented with the A.A. Bloom Award for his years of dedication and service on behalf of Two Ten. Peggy Kim Meill, President of Two Ten will receive the T. Kenyon Holly, Two Ten’s highest honor for outstanding humanitarian achievement and philanthropic service to people in need.
Schwartz & Benjamin, now celebrating its 88th year in business, specializes in designing and manufacturing high-end, designer brands such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Juicy Couture, Kate Spade and 7 for All Mankind., as well as their owned brand, daniblack. Danny, who is the current Chairman of the Board of FFaNY, also serves on the Two Ten Board of Directors and has been dynamically engaged in almost all areas of Two Ten work: the development of the Annual Dinner and other fundraising efforts; the improvement of programs and services; and extensive service on expanding the reach and scope of Two Ten. Carol Baiocchi, Chair of the Two Ten Board of Directors and VP-DMM Footwear for Kohl’s Department Stores, said, “This year’s A.A. Bloom award is eminently well-deserved by Danny. Since he joined the Board, he has added greatly to the organization – with his eye for detail and astute focus on what is imperative in advancing Two Ten. Danny walks the talk. His commitment is shown through his actions. He has lifted the bar for Two Ten volunteerism.”
The T. Kenyon Holly Memorial Award will be presented to Peggy Kim Meill who has served as Two Ten’s President over the past decade. Her career has been dedicated to the philanthropic endeavor and to populations who are in need: serving disadvantaged youth; those touched by medical illness and disease; the next generations of leaders in need of financial assistance for higher education; and those unempowered, Peggy’s commitment over her professional life has touched the lives of many – throughout the country and beyond. Her most lasting legacy will be in our footwear industry where she has brought together diverse segments for the good of the whole. Jim Salzano, President of The Clarks Companies, NA and Vice Chair of Two Ten’s Board, said: “The footwear industry has been shaped over these past ten years by Peggy’s remarkable compassion, perseverance and dedication to shoepeople and to our industry. Wesley R. Card, Chief Executive Officer of The Jones Group will serve as Dinner Chair of the 2011 Two Ten Footwear Foundation Annual Dinner, to be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Marriott New York Marquis, where this year’s honorees will accept their awards. The Annual Dinner is Two Ten’s largest fundraising event, hosting over 1300 guests from all the spectrum of the footwear industry and its associated businesses.
