Today, Homecare Homebase, LLC announced the deployment of a powerful enhancement to their Knowledge Link™ Business Analyzer Module, part of the Homecare Connections™ suite of products. The newest functionality allows Homecare Homebase customers to quickly and accurately identify the effects of the CMS proposed rules regarding 2012 payment rates that was issued this past Tuesday, July 5th.

Today, Homecare Homebase, LLC announced the deployment of a powerful enhancement to their Knowledge Link™ Business Analyzer Module, part of the Homecare Connections™ suite of products. The newest functionality allows Homecare Homebase customers to quickly and accurately identify the effects of the CMS proposed rules regarding 2012 payment rates that was issued this past Tuesday, July 5th.

The CMS proposal included revisions to the face-to-face rule and the therapy assessment rule, as well as changes to the 2012 base rate, visit rates and wage indexes. CMS also proposed significant changes in coding weights by eliminating 401.1 and 401.9 hypertension codes as a factor in the 4 equation model. Finally, the proposal also included reducing case-mix weights on therapy episodes (especially those with 14+ therapy visits) and increasing case-mix weights on non-therapy episodes.

The combination of the new CMS changes makes it very difficult for agencies to evaluate the overall impact of the proposed rule on agency revenues. Homecare Homebase, however, was able to apply the proposed changes against their customer’s 2011 episodes to give users the ability to specifically identify how each proposed change will affect their revenue. In addition, the update provides a very accurate assessment of the overall bottom line impact of the changes. Homecare Homebase is the first home health software provider to deliver such critical insight to their users.
