Invera, the metal industry software specialist, announces release 9.0 of the metal service center software STRATIX.

'It was great to see how responsive Invera was in adding several features to the STRATIX software that we had recently requested,' Christine Dockter, Manager of Administration at Brunswick Steel.

About Invera
Invera is the largest software company dedicated exclusively to the steel and metal service center, metal distribution, steel stock holding, and metal processing industry. Their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software solution STRATIX addresses the unique requirements of the metal industry in the global metal market.

A seamless integration of native metal industry terminology, functions, and features make STRATIX quick to deploy with minimum implementation costs. The STRATIX software includes sales, purchasing, receiving, inventory management, multi-step production, production scheduling, delivery and logistics planning, invoicing, and financials.

STRATIX handles all types of ferrous and non-ferrous products of all forms, including coils, sheets, structural products, wire, pipe and tubing, rebar, mesh, bars, roll formed products, panels/profiles, and building products.

A new release of the STRATIX software is provided on an annual basis. All enhancements are built into the standard package and included in future releases of the software.

Release 9.0
The new STRATIX Release 9.0 contains hundreds of new features and enhancements, including multi-company functionality, features for international trade, inventory control features for bar and tube, quote and order entry functionality for kits, packaged integration between STRATIX and the plate nesting software SigmaNEST, non-steel purchases, and recurring vouchers for vendor invoice entry. It also contains new features for metal service centers that supply panels, composite panels, and profiles to the construction/roofing industry.

Multi-company functionality is used when a group of companies operate on STRATIX, and each company is set up as a separate legal entity on the same or different servers. For example, an organization might have three separate companies – two located in the USA, and one located in the UK. The multi-company function helps to further ‘connect’ those companies and create additional synergies.

The ‘consolidated stock inquiry’ is a multi-company function that allows a user in any company to view stock across the entire enterprise in a single view. The benefit is that the user does not have to log into each company separately. The multi-company function also automates arms length transactions between the separate legal entities, including purchasing/sales and shipment/receipt of material.

Bob Valerie, Director of Operations at Titanium Industries, a titanium products metal service center, comments, ‘We operate in multiple countries with installations in the US, Canada, UK, and Taiwan. Each country is setup as a separate legal entity on a separate database instance. The multi-company functions in STRATIX 9.0 allow us to tie together these locations and provide significant synergies and cross-selling benefits.’

The User Access and Security function includes substantial enhancements to assist in managing multi-branch and multi-warehouse operations. For example, a user can be given permission to view and reserve stock for only the branch to which the user is assigned, a select set of branches, or all branches in the STRATIX system. For example, a salesperson in Chicago could be set up to view and reserve inventory for Chicago and Detroit only, and no other location/s.

New features were also added for international trade. A STRATIX feature called ‘Origin Zone’ is used to group mills (in the same or different country) together into zones. The 'Origin Zone' can then be used to exclude certain mills when searching stock to fulfill customer orders. An ITAR code and Harmonized Tariff code were also added to the inventory to meet export requirements.

Features were also added for companies that perform turning, trepanning, and boring to specific OD’s and/or ID’s. Some of these companies provide products to the OCTG industry. STRATIX enables sales staff to record the precise OD, ID and/or Wall for the sold product. STRATIX then automatically formulates the product’s description based on the specifications and calculates the theoretical weight of the product based on the specifications. This feature eliminates the need to create unique product codes for each OD, ID and/or Wall combination that is sold, processed or purchased.

For service centers that sell kits, functionality was added to allow a salesperson to enter a Quote or Sales Order for a kit. This streamlines the Quote and Sales Order Entry process. In Quote and Sales Order Entry, the ability to duplicate a quote or sales order to a different customer was also added.

For service centers that perform plate cutting, packaged integration between STRATIX and SigmaNEST is now available. The real-time integration of inventory, orders, and jobs from STRATIX to-and-from SigmaNEST eliminates the need for production planning staff to manually feed SigmaNEST with inventory and orders. Once the nest is performed in SigmaNEST, it is imported back into STRATIX as a job to be scheduled and processed. This function significantly improves productivity in the Production Planning department and eliminates double-entry.

For purchasing, the ability to enter a non-inventory purchase was added for cases in which a service center needs to purchase office or shop supplies such as furniture, office supplies, consumables, or production equipment and supplies. This new function includes a special receipt acknowledgment function for on-line matching of vendor invoices and general ledger integration.

For vendor invoices entry, a function to enter a recurring voucher was added. This can be used to assist with repetitive entries for re-occurring AP accruals, for example, for rent or lease payments.

Christine Dockter, Manager of Administration at Brunswick Steel, comments, ‘It was great to see how responsive Invera was in adding several features to the STRATIX software that we had recently requested.’

Veer Vasishta, Chairman at Invera, added, 'STRATIX Release 9.0 represents over 12 months of aggressive and substantial product development. It provides many functions and benefits to assist customers in improving productivity, competitiveness, and operational effectiveness of their businesses.'

STRATIX is now live and operational at over 100 branch locations, representing over 5,000 users, and at customers whose annual sales range from $30m to $2 billion. STRATIX is operational in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Austria, Belgium, Dubai, England, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland & Turkey.
