Although consumers spend billions of dollars on digital music annually, 74 percent value photos or documents over music, according to a new digital media survey from cloud storage and access provider MiMedia.
Other key findings include:
- Nearly half (45 percent) of adults polled said their photos, videos, music and documents are worth over $1,000.
- When asked which digital files are most important, 41 percent said photos, followed by 33 percent for documents, 19 percent for music and 8 percent for videos.
- A majority (72 percent) has experienced data loss due to crashed/malfunctioning devices (66 percent) or lost/stolen computers (7 percent).
- Those who have suffered data loss assigned a higher monetary value to digital media.
