Irvine, California dance competition attracts dancers from all over the country. Offers tremendous photo and video opportunities for local media. Not a public event.

If there are any good economic stories to be told right now, it's this one: More than 400 people have entered one of the largest ballroom dance competitions ever held in California.

Dance students and instructors from 43 Arthur Murray Dance Studios--from Boston to San Diego--will participate in two days of dance competitions and demonstrations, with the final of the professional championships on Saturday evening, July 16. Several local (non-professional) dance students have also entered and will show off their talents, style and confidence. Even the gowns and costumes are amazing. This is serious fun.

The initial judging will start at 7 a.m. and run till 1 a.m., on July 15 & 16, both Friday and Saturday, at the Hyatt Regency Irvine. The 400+ participants are dancing over 8,500 different dance entries.

While not open to the public, this colorful event offers some great visuals, both still and video, and several opportunities to highlight local dancers.
