The goal of the Water Design-Build Council is to provide municipal leaders with a one-stop resource for evolving information on procurement practices, federal and state legislation, and continuing and recently completed projects.
Washington, DC (PRWEB) July 14, 2011
The Water Design-Build Council has released the first edition of a quarterly e-newsletter, Municipal Water Solutions, a resource for municipal leaders facing difficult and complex decisions about their communities’ water and wastewater facilities.
“In the past few years, municipal water and wastewater issues have become a priority for municipalities across the United States,” said Pete Kinsley, President of the Water Design-Build Council and Vice President of The Haskell Company. “The goal of the Water Design Build Council is to provide municipal leaders with a one-stop resource for evolving information on procurement practices, federal and state legislation, and continuing and recently completed projects,” he continued.
The inaugural edition, published online July 12, provides relevant and quickly accessible information on key issues pertaining to municipal water and wastewater projects. It includes:
- Lessons learned from completed water and wastewater utility projects, as well as progress reports on projects under way, particularly projects using the design-build or construction-management at-risk delivery approach
- Useful state and local news on water and wastewater infrastructure challenges that other communities are facing - and the steps they are taking to address them
- Recent legislative activity that may affect how a municipality procures and/or finances a water or wastewater project
- Dates of upcoming conferences on issues important to the future of a community’s water and wastewater programs.
“The industry is buzzing with activity,” said Don Evans, Outside Director of the Water Design-Build Council. “This newsletter is a great tool for busy local leaders who need to stay abreast topics that may inform how they approach their water and wastewater challenges.”
The e-newsletter is the Council’s second publication this year. In January they published a second edition to the informative best-practices guide entitled The Municipal Water and Wastewater Design-Build Handbook. The purpose of the handbook is to provide a clear and comprehensive overview of collaborative project delivery methods, and it does so by drawing on the experiences of both municipalities and firms that specialize in design-build and CMAR project delivery methods.
