BlogHer Inc., the leading participatory news, entertainment and information network for women online, announced today that PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Indra K. Nooyi, will be the Keynote Speaker at the seventh annual conference at the San Diego Convention Center on August 6, 2011.
Ms. Nooyi oversees the largest food and beverage company in North America and the world's largest portfolio of billion-dollar food and beverage brands. She has directed the company's global strategy for more than a decade and led its restructuring, including the divestiture of its restaurants into the successful YUM! Brands, Inc., the acquisition of Tropicana and the merger with Quaker Oats that brought the vital Quaker and Gatorade businesses to PepsiCo and the merger with PepsiCo's anchor bottlers. She was named President and CEO in 2006 and assumed the role of Chairman in 2007.
“Ms. Nooyi’s story is inspirational, empowering and totally relatable to the aspirational women in the BlogHer community, who are using their blogs as platforms to change their lives, their careers, their communities and their worlds,” said Elisa Camahort Page, BlogHer Co-founder and COO. “With social media representing half of U.S. women’s favorite media habits, the voices in our community find themselves on the cutting edge of technology, customer service and personal branding. Who better to share insight and perspective than a global leader like Indra Nooyi, whose path has made her America’s highest-ranking female in corporate America. We are thrilled Ms. Nooyi will join us to share her experience with the more than 3,000 women attending BlogHer ’11.”
“BlogHer is a dynamic community of entrepreneurial women who are transforming the way we interact, connect and share information here and around the world. In a word, they are inspiring,” said Ms. Nooyi. “I’m looking forward to meeting these influential bloggers who are not only creating the new business model of the future but are also an important audience as consumers of our products. It promises to be a great opportunity to gain insight into what they’re thinking and how they’re using and enjoying our products.”
