Dr. Longobardi to lead the Orthopedic Surgery Department at the new Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center in Secaucus, New Jersey.

Raphael S. F. Longobardi, MD, FAAOS has been named Chairman of the Orthopedic Surgery Department at the new Meadowlands Hospital and Medical Center (MHMC). As the new Chairman of the Department, Dr. Longobardi will lead and implement a vision for the newly structured orthopedic department.

“Developing a vision for the department is a top priority as we move forward in focusing our efforts on positioning Meadowlands Hospital and Medical Center as the cornerstone for orthopaedic care in the region. We have made great strides in adding seasoned professionals who share their passion for orthopedics and their desire to forge forward with the newest advancements.” notes Dr. Longobardi. “Utilizing the resources available at Meadowlands to expand our services will be an asset to the ever growing community in and around Hudson and Bergen counties.”

Dr. Longobardi is a renowned Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist with expertise in shoulder, knee and elbow reconstruction and repair, and has devoted his professional career in orthopaedics to educating, rehabilitating and advocating proper techniques and strategies to treat, as well as, prevent athletic injuries.

In addition to his new position at Meadowlands Hospital and Medical Center, Dr. Longobardi has a private orthopaedic surgery practice with a concentration on sports medicine in Hackensack, NJ.    He earned his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine and completed both his general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at New York University Medical Center. Dr. Longobardi completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic at the University of Tennessee. He has since been a team physician and consultant for numerous professional sports teams, including the 2003 World Series Champions Florida Marlins, US Tennis Association, NY/NJ Metro Stars Soccer and NY Islanders Hockey Team. In addition, he is currently a team physician for Bergen Catholic H.S. and Berkeley College, as well as consults on various collegiate and professional athletes.    Dr. Longobardi is a member and fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, member and New Jersey Delegate for the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America and International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and American College of Sports Medicine.
