Digital Agency Vertic Drops ‘Portals’ From Name

Growth from acquisitions and global expansion cited as key reasons for new ‘client friendly’ name.

One of the quickest growing digital agencies globally has announced the strategic decision to change name from VerticPortals to Vertic. Following growth in the U.S. and Asia, including the acquisition of Lapis Digital earlier in 2011, the agency stated that the expansion has led to a need for a bolder and clearer name.

“The digital playground has long been a realm greater than the standard web portal. Our integrated strategic and creative services across all digital touch-points required our name to represent this more holistic offering,” said Sebastian Jespersen, CEO of Vertic. “Besides, our clients have often abbreviated our former name to Vertic – our pride in placing the client at the center of our work means that this name change may have indeed been overdue!”

Vertic was established in 2002 in Copenhagen and has grown organically year on year since. Following the opening of a U.S. headquarters in New York in 2007, the agency spread its reach to Singapore in 2010. As part of the name change the agency has also launched their new site

The organic growth in particular has been seen as the key differentiator in an industry renowned for its aggressive external investors. “It has been a terrific journey, especially considering our beginnings,” continues Jespersen. “Our decision to reject outside investment from the start has meant that we have been well placed to go after the markets, verticals and clients that we believed in.”

A growing number of global assignments for Fortune 1000 clients such as Microsoft, MTV Networks, Philips, Siemens and SAP have been identified as the catalyst for the growth. According to the CEO, further expansion is in the pipeline. “We are not stopping here. We believe we have some of the brightest young talent on offer and our continued business with these clients is testimony to their skills.”
