The Dr. Asela Russell of The Center for Women’s Health in Colorado has successfully performed the Fertiloscopy procedure on two patients. Fertiloscope is a new, minimally-invasive, state of the art surgical technique for diagnosing and treating infertility patients.

The Center for Women’s Health today announced that Dr. Asela Russell has successfully performed the Fertiloscopy procedure on two patients. Both patients were suffering from polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), a condition that can prevent proper ovulation and lead to infertility. Fertiloscopy is a new surgical technique used for the early diagnosis and immediate corrective surgery of physical abnormalities in the female reproductive organs.

Dr. Russell utilized the Fertiloscope™, a novel laparoscope designed specifically for minimally invasive trans-vaginal surgery by eminent French surgeon Dr. Antoine Watrelot, to perform both procedures. She travelled to Lyon, France in May to train directly under Dr. Watrelot and obtain certification in the procedure. “I see Fertiloscopy as offering an exciting new option for our patients who are struggling with infertility, it is a quick, in-office procedure that enables both a comprehensive physical diagnostic assessment and the ability to immediately correct disorders of the female reproductive organs” said Dr. Russell.

Dr. Russell is the first physician in the Denver area to be trained in Fertiloscopy and joins a growing community of women’s health physicians nationwide that are adopting the procedure. The Fertiloscope™ is distributed by Norgenix in partnership with Fertility Focus, Ltd. (Warwick UK), the developer of the product.
