Despite all of the great safety tips that can be given, only we, as drivers, can prevent more fatalities from occurring.

Street Toyota recognizes the dangers that come with summer and wants to alert all drivers of the safety precautions that should take place in their own car.
In just a few minutes after being in an air-conditioned car, temperatures can reach up to 120 degrees. Even with a window being cracked, temperatures in a car tend to be unbearable.
Not only is it illegal to leave children or animals in a car under these conditions, but it may also often end up fatal. Over twenty children have died this year alone from hyperthermia. Street Toyota wants to warn all drivers of the constant danger children and animals’ lives are put in every day.
The heat coming into the car is absorbed by the interior and the glass often works as an insulator. Therefore, temperatures like the Texas Panhandle has had this summer can cause cars to heat up immensely and very quickly.
Rick McLey, Marketing Director at Street Toyota, believes that his dogs are his kids.
“I couldn’t imagine forgetting or leaving my ‘kids’ in the car. They are my life. And despite all of the great safety tips that can be given, only we, as drivers, can prevent more fatalities from occurring,” said McLey.
Street Toyota encourages all drivers to tint their car windows or protect their cars with sunshades. Also, parking in the shade or away from the sun does wonders for a vehicle’s temperature. Lastly, keeping water in a car allows for drivers and passengers to keep hydrated in these hot summer months.
Street Toyota highly suggests that drivers stay aware and keep all safety precautions in mind this summer as temperatures begin to rise.
