PepWear, LLC, a leading national decorated apparel and recognition plaque company, is helping Washington avert an economic disaster by providing the President, his Cabinet and Congress with T-shirts that say: “It’s Time to Eat our Peas,” reminding them to work together to save our American economy.

PepWear President Craig Johnson listened to President Obama’s remarks on Monday, when he encouraged Congress to reach an agreement on cutting deficits and raising the debt ceiling. At the end of his statement the President said "we might as well do it now, pull off the band-aid, eat our peas."

"I thought the President's appeal to his colleagues that we all 'eat our peas' was right on," said Mr. Johnson. "The time for partisan bickering and standing on Ivory Tower principles is over. Our Government needs to get on with the job they were elected to do - and lead. If they don't make a deal there will be no winners, only losers. In my 30 year career in business I've learned a couple things. One is that Leaders have to Lead - and that means making decisions that won't be popular with everyone, but are necessary for the good of everyone - 'eating your peas'. The second is when deal negotiations fall apart, if both sides don't feel like they may have given too much, then they haven't tried hard enough."

Johnson went on to say, "PepWear has been growing and profitable throughout the economic crisis. We've added jobs. We're constructing a new building to accommodate our growth. But we need Washington to help by keeping interest rates low and creating an environment in which other businesses can thrive as well. Their first step should be to assure the world that America is still the safest economy on the planet - by getting our deficits under control and ensuring we don't default on our debts."

PepWear knows that T-shirts are a great way to get a message across, so they sent "It's Time to Eat our Peas" shirts to each member of the House and Senate, the President's Cabinet, and the First Family.

"Maybe if they all wear their T-shirts it will remind them that they have a job to do. Plus, eating peas goes with Mrs. Obama's Fight Against Obesity, and we think Malia and Sasha will like them too."
