Superyachts On Sale? Market Pressure Brings Significant Value to Superyacht Industry

The recent million Euro price reduction on the world’s first explorer yacht - SHANDOR - is just one indicator that now is the time to buy.

It is a buyer’s market in the superyacht industry for those who can take advantage of it. According to Jonathan Beckett, CEO of Burgess, the global superyacht industry leader that offers every yachting service imaginable - from luxury yacht charters to sale and purchase, new builds, financing, and management - “Yachts that are 140 feet and above are proving tougher to sell but there are some very attractive deals in the market”.

One example is the 50m (164ft) SHANDOR, available for sale through BURGESS, which was conceived and built as the world’s first explorer yacht for Gianni Agnelli, the founder of FIAT for long range cruising and entertaining on a grand scale. The current owner of this unique vessel is a keen seller and has instructed an aggressive reduction to achieve a sale this summer. The price of SHANDOR was just reduced by a million Euros to an asking price of EUR 7,975,000.

So, what does EUR 7,975,000 buy in this market? Positioned by BURGESS as an excellent purchase opportunity for the true yachtsman, SHANDOR has circumnavigated the globe in superb style and is a genuine world cruiser with a 100,000 litre fuel capacity and a 5,600 nautical mile range. The yacht’s large sundeck provides the focal point for on-board life, complete with Jacuzzi, full bar, shaded areas, and plenty of plush lounging spots. She accommodates 12 guests, including a master suite with a separate study and bathroom en suite. The spacious interior with a passenger elevator to all decks was designed by the renowned John Munford and offers two elegant multi-purpose saloons that can serve as a cinema, gym, a discotheque complete with sound and lighting or just a relaxed lounge ideal for entertaining. To enjoy the water, the yacht offers four tenders including a small sailboat, and a full array of watersport equipment including dive gear, waterskis and tows, and kayaks.

BURGESS currently represents 60 superyachts that are available for sale, in addition to SHANDOR, each with its own distinctive style and appeal. According to Beckett, “There is a great deal of choice in the market, it is extremely important to have intelligent advice, whether you are looking to buy or sell. We have roughly 40 years in the business, and that expertise has guided many clients through the highs and the lows.”
