GIBill.com’s Ask the Expert feature recently answered its milestone 2,000th user-submitted question about GI Bill benefits. On average, the site receives over 100 questions per month, ranging on topics from GI Bill eligibility, payments, benefits transfers, enrollment, and program specifics. The Ask the Expert writer, 34th Infantry Division Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Ron Kness, who has 36 years of military experience, answers one GI Bill-related question per day, which is posted to the site’s blog and Twitter feed.
“GIBill.com constantly aims to provide the most up-to-date information for the military and veteran communities,” said Meghan Prober, GIBill.com spokesperson. “We are honored to have Ron on our staff as he spends a lot of time researching and crafting the most practical answers for our users.”
Kness, who served as a Supervisor of Military Personnel Services, including Education Benefits, has been a contributor to GIBill.com since June 2009 and has seen the Ask the Expert feature grow from receiving between 30 and 35 questions per month to now upwards of 110 questions per month. Much of this is due to Congress’s recent enactment of the Post-9/11 Veterans Education Assistance Improvement Act of 2010 which will take full effect on August 1. This act will provide improvements to the GI Bill, including the ability to use benefits for non-degree education and vocational training.
“We understand that the ever-changing nature of GI Bill provisions will always spur questions from our users,” explained Prober. “It is in our site’s nature to provide as many resources and answers as possible so that GI Bill-users can take full advantage of their benefits.”
