Springfield, MO (PRWEB) July 19, 2011
The Missouri personal injury law firm of Aaron Sachs and Associates is sponsoring the annual D.A.R.E to Ride on July 24th, along with the Greene County Sheriff’s department. Now in its tenth year, this motorcycle ride has raised over $39,000 to help keep the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program going strong in Greene County, Missouri.
Participants pay a $15 fee to enroll in the motorcycle ride. The purpose of the annual event is to raise money to help local children learn to resist peer pressure and stay off drugs. This year the motorcyclists will be heading to the popular biker destination of Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
The Springfield D.A.R.E program is funded completely by donations. Sponsoring this program is a perfect fit for the community-service Aaron Sachs and Associates oriented Sachs law firm. Some of their other programs include sponsoring and speaking at local teen driver education assemblies, and their bicycle helmet program, now in its twelfth year, which provides low-cost bike safety helmets to Missouri children.
“As a parent of two teenagers, I wholeheartedly support the D.A.R.E program in our schools,” says Sachs.
D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is a worldwide substance abuse prevention education program. This highly acclaimed program will help millions of school children this year to learn the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence.
Founded in 1983 in Los Angeles, D.A.R.E has proven so successful that it has spread to over 43 other countries. It’s currently being implemented in 75 percent the school districts here in the United States.
Used with children from kindergarten through high school, the D.A.R.E. program consists of a series of classroom lessons taught by a specially trained, local police officer. The program has also been credited with improving police relations with the community. Curriculum includes such vital topics as how to resist peer pressure, the dangers of gangs and how to live a productive, violence free life.
D.A.R.E has continually updated their programming over the past 25 years, and now it includes education n Internet safety, prescription and over-the-counter drug abuse, and cyber-bullying.
Over 41 law enforcement agencies nationwide have implemented or re-implemented the D.A.R.E program in their communities this year.
