Chicago, Ill. (PRWEB) July 18, 2011
Linda Mack, founder and president of Mack International, a premier retained executive search and strategic family office/human capital management consulting firm, has been chosen to co-chair the Family Office and Private Wealth Management Forum, “The Race for Returns.” Nearly 300 family members/family office executives will attend the event at the Hyatt Regency Newport in Newport, R.I.
The annual forum, part of Opal Financial Group’s Private Wealth Series, is Opal’s premier conference for high-net-worth individuals and family offices in North America. Private investors and money managers from around the globe will gather for three days of discussions on the latest family office and investment trends.
“The Private Wealth Conference will explore the challenges and opportunities of investing in emerging markets, alternative investments, distressed real estate, direct energy and other asset types,” Linda Mack explains.
Linda Mack and Lisa Grey, managing member of Graymatter Strategies, LLC, Richmond, Va., will co-facilitate two closed-door family member/family office roundtable discussions.
The first session, “Structuring a Family Office,” will include three prominent attorneys addressing the impact of the Dodd-Frank Act on family offices: John Duncan, principal, Duncan Associates, Attorneys and Counselors, Chicago; Thomas Handler, partner and chairman, Advanced Planning and Family Office Practice Group, Handler Thayer, LLP, Chicago; and Charles Lowenhaupt, chairman, president and CEO, Lowenhaupt Capital Advisors, St. Louis, Mo.
“Lisa Grey and I will also share our insights and perspectives on family office structures,” says Linda Mack. “There are a lot of family office models; the key is for a family to select one aligned with their mission, values, culture and long-term objectives.
“The second closed-door roundtable session will focus on managing risk in the entire family wealth portfolio,” Linda Mack adds.
Forum keynote speaker Martin Feldstein, a member of President Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board, will speak on what’s next for the American economy. Feldstein is the George F. Baker Professor of Economics at Harvard University.
Conference sessions will focus on investment styles and strategies for family offices, asset allocation, manager selection, equity investing, and how to find and create value in real estate. There will also be panels on managed futures vs. direct investments in commodities, global energy market investment opportunities and challenges, and investing in credit through the cycle.
Other sessions will address the outlook for investing in emerging markets, the case for strategic life insurance planning, the return of life settlements, fixed-income investments, the new era of hedge funds, and advanced tax and estate planning.
Panel discussions will focus on alternative investments, asset protection strategies, funds of funds, philanthropic strategies, risk management, sustainable family wealth, safe harbors in a regulated world, and selecting wealth advisors.
Opal Financial Group will kick off the event with its 5th Annual America’s Cup Regatta, offering conference attendees the opportunity to work with a professional sailing charter crew while competing against industry peers.
