The dominating and impressive mountain range that is visible from nearly all parts of the Balearic Island of Majorca has long been a source of tourist intrigue, joy and entertainment.

Whether it is taking picturesque photos of the mountains or from the advantageous vantage points or trekking over its challenging terrain, it has long served as a major source of holiday entertainment.

Now it is a UNESCO World Heritage site, giving it the prestige and appeal it has long deserved.

Popular Villages and Resorts

There are many villages and resorts that hug the Tramuntana Mountains, the most popular of which are Soller and Pollenca.

Soller is a 10th Century village that receives a lot of tourist interest, not only for its location digging into the mountains, but also because of the train service into the capital of Palma.

It is also where holidaymakers will find the highest point of the island, Puig Mayor, standing at 1,445metres above sea level.

Pollenca is another medieval village that exudes traditional Majorca charm. This also leads to Puerto Pollenca, a former fishing village that is now home to a horse shoe bay offering watersports and also where luxury yachts can be found.

Despite its touristy demeanour, Puerto Pollenca promotes a lot of traditional charm. The beauty of the mountains rolls into the area and even below sea level. This is why snorkelling and diving are two of the most popular activities in the bay.

Excellent Holiday Deals

Jet2holidays are responding to the increased demand for holidays in Spain by providing a number of excellent deals to Majorca amongst other areas.

The island is proving to be a popular destination for British holidaymakers so far this year as Spain in general returns to favour.

Any holidaymakers wanting to check out this latest UNESCO World Heritage site can get £75 off their booking at the moment. There are a number of late summer deals available too, for those wanting to enjoy the island’s charms in peace; for which a destination around the Tramuntana Mountains is perfect.
