Mentor, Ohio (PRWEB) July 20, 2011
Normally, August 2nd would be just another day during the summer for most Americans, however, this year it takes on an entirely different feeling. The U.S. Government has a deadline of August 2nd, 2011, to raise the national debt ceiling in order to prevent the United States from defaulting on its debt. While Americans heard this over and over again in the news for the last month, do they really know what will happen to them should lawmakers fail to make a deal by this deadline?
Some economists feel it is likely that the worldwide credit agencies would downgrade the United States credit for the FIRST TIME IN HISTORY. Others believe that a failure to raise the debt ceiling would be damaging to the federal government immediately, however those not employed by the federal government may not see any adverse effects at first. The federal government’s spending, and employment would need to be slashed by up to 40% immediately. Payments for certain entitlements will need to either be stopped or cut back. The federal government would be forced for the first time in years to survive solely on its own incoming cash flow as opposed to continually borrowing.
While this situation may not weigh heavily on everyone’s mind, it should certainly make one start thinking about their financial future. Would one rather attend to their financial health now, while they have the ability to, or would they want to wait until zero-hour as the U.S. government has and face a gridlock trying to dig themselves out of the mess they have put themselves into? The obvious answer is to get off on the right foot now, or begin to fix any financial miscues committed in the past, today, before things become any worse. Partnering with a Personal Financial Engineer will enable one to get in the driver’s seat of their financial future and begin to steer things in the right direction.
