CgoXchange is an online platform that steamlines the air cargo spot rating process. Multiple telephone calls, emails and/or faxes are no longer required for each rate sought and given. Forwarders enter shipment information and select airlines to receive quotes. Airlines may ignore requests or enter rates with qualifications (specific flights validity, etc.). Forwarders view all received quotes and airlines view all received requests on a single screen.
The CgoXchange pilot project is being offered exclusively to users in Northern California September 1, 2011 through February 29, 2012 free of charge. The success of any air cargo spot rate streamlining system depends on having sufficient participating freight forwarders to bring value to airlines and sufficient participating airlines to bring value to forwarders. The six month pilot project should determine whether that is possible in Northern California. To receive updates on the pilot vist http://newsletters.siriusbusiness.com/ps/cgoxchange-info-request.
The CgoXchange platform is currently being operated as Cargomarkt in and around Amsterdam by JP Cargovision. Cargomarkt includes shippers. CgoXchange will not directly involve shippers during the pilot.
CgoXchange is a joint venture of JP Cargovision and Sirius Business Solutions. Its principals are Jan Molenkamp, Paul IJgel and Craig Ruess. All are air cargo veterans. Each has experience with inefficient air cargo spot rating processes and believes there is a better way.
