Developers Can Add Social Networking Layer to Existing Mobile Apps on iOS, Android

By allowing the community of app users to discover each other, Socialize can increase user engagement and app usage by 54 percent.

Socialize, Inc. announced today the public launch of its Socialize software developer kit for iOS and Android. The Socialize SDK increases app activity and improves user engagement by letting mobile app developers create an in-app social networking layer to add to both new or existing mobile apps. App users can now discover and connect with other users who have similar interests and can also share their in-app experience via Facebook, Twitter and email.

“The reality about mobile apps is that average user engagement plummets to less than 1 percent only 90 days after they are downloaded, and that means lost revenues for app developers and poor ROI for company brands,” said Daniel R. Odio, CEO of Socialize, Inc. “By allowing the community of app users to discover each other, Socialize can increase user engagement and app usage by 54 percent. And by letting users share their in-app experience with the outside world, apps can go viral.”

For app users, the addition of a Socialize networking layer to their favorite apps means they can now seamlessly share the app’s content via Facebook, Twitter or email—connecting the in-app world to the web and other social networks.

For app developers, the Socialize SDK offers turnkey mobile social network features that can enhance existing apps built on iOS or Android. In addition, users’ likes and shares and comments all become trackable trends that highlight an overarching map of user preferences called the Interest Graph.

The Interest Graph
The Interest Graph is a different understanding of how social networking works today. Instead of linking people via common friends, mobile app users can link to others with common interests. Not everyone who downloads a singular app is Facebook friends with each other, but they do all share at least one common interest. Social doesn’t end with Facebook—there’s a whole community of similar people in and around the app waiting to share their passions. That’s where Socialize comes in, leveraging the power of the Interest Graph.
