Sabino Hair Solutions Launches Double-Blind Test to Identify Best Anti-Frizz Products

Summer time means many things: no school, more sunlight, and higher temperatures. But for the hundreds of thousands of women with naturally curly and frizzy hair, it also means more humidity—and a season of battling out-of-control frizz. One company, Sabino Hair Solutions, is well aware of this annual battle. They make and distribute Lök & Blök, a frizz-control hair serum, as well as the hairspray Finisher, both of which have successfully blocked out humidity while locking in the hair’s natural moisture. This summer, though, the company will launch a program to determine if, indeed, Sabino has the best product. Starting in July, they will be enlisting volunteers to try a number of anti-frizz products in a double-blind trial.

Dubbing it “The Sabino Challenge,” volunteers will receive three to four bottles of unlabeled products to use for a four-week period. They will be asked to take notes on their results and upload them into an online forum throughout the trial. Even the owners of Sabino will be unaware of what product is in what bottle, as the test will be conducted by an outside marketing consultancy.

“Although we certainly feel our product is the best on the market, we’re open to receiving the feedback of our new and current customers,” said Victor Sabino, owner of Sabino Hair Solutions. To track the participants in the challenge, the company has added an item to their online shopping cart at http://www.sabinohair.com, which will charge customers the lucky $.07 to enroll in the study. They will then be provided with the products, as well as instructions for use and reporting feedback.

“The goal of the challenge is to learn what customers’ needs are. If there are other products that are meeting them better, we want to know,” added Sabino. Sabino has been in the hair design industry for 35 years and began creating his own brand of anti-frizz products in 2002. He maintains a salon in North Scottsdale, where he sells the products. Products are also available online and will soon be sold at select retail locations.
