New capabilities for OpenStack Object Storage and Compute released on one-year anniversary of open source cloud computing project.

enStratus is very excited to extend capabilities with OpenStack to help our customers manage public and private clouds.

enStratus today announced expanded capabilities for OpenStack components including OpenStack Object Storage and OpenStack Compute. This announcement highlights the significant momentum that OpenStack has built since its launch exactly one year ago.

OpenStack is a global collaboration of developers and cloud computing technologists producing the ubiquitous open source cloud computing platform for public and private clouds.

enStratus has embedded Object Storage for on-premise deployments against cloud platforms that do not have an object storage option like vCloud, Cloud.com and Nimbula. OpenStack Object Storage, code named Swift, is a highly available, distributed, eventually consistent object/blob store.

enStratus also announces native support for Compute. OpenStack Compute is the software that controls one's Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud computing platform.

“enStratus is very excited to extend capabilities with OpenStack to help our customers manage public and private clouds,” said George Reese, enStratus CTO. “We already have customers using Swift as a storage platform for their cloud infrastructure. Providing governance and automation capabilities is an important aspect for OpenStack’s enterprise and service provider clients.”
