Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the second-largest school district in the USA, has partnered with xRM.com to build a new solution to help the district’s payroll department process employee help requests and questions. LAUSD had formerly relied on an outdated system that was inefficient and lacked the ability to track and analyze the handling of cases while they were being processed. LAUSD faced the obsolescence of its prior application at a time when shrinking budgets and lay-offs also challenged the district. The district teamed with Microsoft Certified Partner xRM.com to find a flexible and cost-effective solution that could evolve as the district’s needs change in the future.
After weighing the costs and benefits of hiring a development team to modify the district’s existing software, LAUSD’s Information Technology Division approached xRM.com to design and implement a new system, called the Employee Help Desk, based on the xRM framework of Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. After learning about the requirements and business practices of LAUSD, xRM.com built a new solution that addressed the district’s needs while focusing on its strict budgetary requirements.
Developing a system based on Microsoft Dynamics CRM enabled xRM.com to build a new custom solution for LAUSD without having to create it from scratch. The Microsoft Dynamics CRM foundation also allows LAUSD to add new features and to build new applications economically in the future. Because of this flexibility, the district can continue to leverage its investment in the future and to conserve resources for other critical information technology infrastructure projects.
“In these challenging economic times, we’ve had to learn how to do more with less. A strong and valuable partner to LAUSD, xRM.com worked with us to build a modernized, flexible system that allows us to meet the needs of thousands of District employees so they can focus on the business of educating our students," said Ron Chandler, LAUSD’s Chief Information Officer.
