The 15-hour video training series moves from basic sketches to complete animated models with particle effects. The easy way to master 3DS Max 2012

Training company, Infinite Skills Inc, has just released a new tutorial video course for Autodesk 3DS Max 2012 that aims to help beginners learn how to design, model and animate in 3D using the popular platform. The 3DS Max tutorial features 130 separate lessons that move through topics such as modeling primitives, textures and materials, rigging, skinning, lighting, motion, and particle effects while focusing on a central project work flow.

“3DS Max is a complex program with high-end features for creating video games and full-on animation,” said Colin Boyd, sales director for Infinite Skills. “Yet in these Max tutorials, everything is broken down into basic steps that even beginners can follow and still see fantastic results.”

The 3DS Max Tutorial Video - Training is presented by author Brian Mennenoh, a 3D industry professional with over 14 years of design and teaching experience. Brian applies his unique training style developed as a college instructor to provide beginner-friendly examples that are engaging and applicable to projects encountered in a commercial environment.

The central project within the 15.25-hour training video series is an imaginative animation of two children’s toys—a pixie and a robot—coming to life. Viewers first learn how to create each figure using primitive object tools and then gradually refining and adding detail until each is complete. This section allows the viewer to master metallic objects as well as humanoid character modeling elements such as facial features, hands and hair. Once the models are complete, the tutorials then move through 3DS Max’s environment and scene creation tools, showing how to put together an animated battle scene in which the characters use crayons as weapons. Usable working files are included with each chapter to allow hands-on learning.

“The best way to learn a creative platform like 3DS Max is to actually get hands-on,” said Chris Johns, content specialist at Infinite Skills. “In these videos, users get to go step by step through an entire creative scene, learning a whole set of skills in an organic workflow, rather than just plodding along through a guided overview of the application.”
The 3DS Max 2012 Tutorial Video series with work files can be ordered on DVD-ROM or as a full length download from the Infinite Skills training site. The tutorials can be viewed on Windows or Mac, and the course currently retails for $99.95 USD. Shipping is available worldwide.
