The Encore of Tony Duran Takes The Prize at Las Vegas Film Festival

Indie darling The Encore of Tony Duran has earned top honors from the Las Vegas Film Festival.

The story of Tony Duran captures the frustrations and obstacles so many of us face in our daily lives and I think that's why people have responded to it so much.

The film starring Gene Pietragallo, Cody Kasch, Nikki Ziering, and Elliott Gould received The Jury Prize for Best Feature Film on Sunday night after closing out the prestigious festival. Shot in just nine days, The Encore of Tony Duran tells the story of a down-and-out singer (Gene Pietragallo) on the day he hits rock bottom. The victim of personal and financial failure, Tony is a broken man. However, just when he thinks life can't get any worse, he finds redemption with the help of his mentor (Gould), his son (Kasch), and his muse (a decidedly dressed down Ziering). Embarking on a human transformation to become the man he aspires to be, Tony works to turn his life around losing nearly 50lbs, and reconciling with his son.

After receiving multiple standing ovations at the Palm Springs Film Festival and the recent win in Las Vegas, Tony Duran’s lead Gene Pietragallo no longer feels like a Hollywood underdog himself. Following years spent away from the limelight, the Hill Street Blues alum is now making a triumphant comeback thanks to his starring turn and his singing chops.

According to the film’s director Fred Sayeg, "The story of Tony Duran captures the frustrations and obstacles so many of us face in our daily lives and I think that's why people have responded to it so much. It’s a story of redemption and inspiration for audiences of all ages.”

Next up for Tony Duran, the film is set to screen at the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival and the Tallgrass Film Festival, where star Elliott Gould will be honored with the Ad Astra Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Encore of Tony Duran is produced by One More Time Productions, LLC, in associations with Mister Moon Media.
