Not Your Grandfather’s Beauty Standard – Online Dating Innovator Anastasia Rocks the Black Sea

News and coverage of unique events from Eastern Europe, particularly C.I.S., are still hard to come by in the West. The world- class beauty competition, staged in a seaside resort club designed as an ancient Greek temple, was part of a Romance Tour excursion by online dating portal The contestants were 22 spectacular bathing beauties from cities across Ukraine—Odessa, Nikolayev, Kherson, Sumy, Ismail—cities not household names in the West, but significant to anyone who knows this part of the globe and the enchanting world of beautiful and dynamic women who inhabit it.

The annual beauty competition put to rest the 1950’s Russian profiles of corpulent and muscular women best suited for hard labor and Olympic weight lifting events, once thought to be representative of the female population here. In today’s Russia and Ukraine, nothing is further from the truth. The svelte, toned, high- stepping, high heeled ladies of the region and today’s C.I.S. culture leave virtually nothing to be desired in terms of beauty, brains and animal magnetism.

Conducted to a mixture of Western rock ’n’ roll, Slavic disco and East European metal favorites, the 22 ladies, whose ages ranged from 19 to 27, strutted and stretched in swimsuits and evening wear before judges who consisted of local and international businessmen, lucky tour members chosen in a lottery, and special guest, Playboy’s 55th anniversary Playmate, Ukraine-born Dasha Astafieva, who later performed with her hard- driving, all-girl music group, NikitA.

When the smoke cleared, petite blond bombshell Natalia of neighboring Nikolaev was chosen Miss Bikini 2011. The 20- year- old, 5-foot-2-inch bundle of sexual energy gasped wide-eyed as she was presented with the grand prize, a 2011 Yamaha SuperJet 700jet ski.

In a wholly unprecedented move that symbolized the new openness between East and West, the gentlemen attending the event, as well as any of Anastasia’s online members, were able to chat with the winner and her court, as well as woo and date these beauty queens.

From a place little known or understood to the outside world, an event such as this caught the attention of major media and helped seize the imagination of society at large, bringing the world a little closer together.
