In the new children’s book The Adventures of Pete and Max: And the Lost Sock (published by AuthorHouse), written and illustrated by Michele Housholder Funk, a young boy and his dog journey from inside the house to around the neighborhood as they search for Pete’s missing favorite purple sock.

It started out like any other typical day. Max … ready for adventure, at the foot of my bed, tugging and pulling on the covers which sometimes seemed very annoying. So, I could have used five more minutes of peaceful rest, but Max wasn’t about to let that happen! He was ready for adventure, but my stomach was growling.

Pete and his dog Max are getting ready for their day when Pete realizes he’s missing one of his favorite purple socks. Frantically, with Max’s help, he begins to search through his entire house and around the neighborhood.

Pete and Max check everywhere. They check under his bed, only to find misplaced toys and a half-eaten sandwich. They toss out toys until they reach the bottom of the toy box, but no sock is to be found. Even when Pete asks for help from his friends, Gertie the goldfish and Frankie the bulldog, they just shake their heads no. Mom says maybe it’s in the dryer – the terrible, clothes-eating dryer. Together, Pete and Max are brave enough to check, but the sock is not to be found.

Where could it be? Will Pete and Max be able to find the missing sock? With a little positive thinking and help from his friends, Pete and Max will have everyone smiling at the unexpected ending and what friendship is all about.
