SafeTeens.org announces a Wii Twitter contest to celebrate the launch of their newly redesigned website. The contest will run through July 29th and gives teens the chance to win a Nintendo Wii by posting about the new website on Twitter. Teens can enter the drawing by sending SafeTeens.org a tweet that mentions their favorite part of the new site with a link to that page along with the Twitter hash tag #SafeTeens. Full contest rules are available on the SafeTeens website. The winner will be announced via social media and the Safeteens.org blog on Monday August 1st.
Safeteens.org, which is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and run by Maternal & Family Health Services, Inc. (MFHS), is an online resource for teens across the country for reliable health information, including understanding and preventing teen pregnancy, building healthy relationships and protecting teen health. Originally launched in 2002, the site has been redesigned with today’s teen in mind and integrates many new interactive features. The new site has expanded to address current issues facing teens, such as online safety and resources for LGBTQ teens. The website is also a direct link for Pennsylvania teens who are seeking confidential access to a family planning health center.
The redesign of the SafeTeens website included a rewrite of all the articles on the site, and the addition of new pieces on current teen health concerns. MFHS plans to continue to add new articles to the site throughout the rest of 2011. The new SafeTeens website also includes interactive polls, a new blog, and several easy ways for teens to connect with the site, including Facebook and Twitter. Teens can get confidential answers to health questions via the Ask Nurse Kathy section. Pennsylvania teens can contact SafeTeens by calling 1-866-SafeTeens to find a family planning health center in their community.
MFHS wants to hear what real teens think about all of the new features and will be closely reviewing the contest entries to find out what teens like best about the site and what they want more of. Teens are encouraged to share their feedback via social media and the website’s contact form. SafeTeens.org is also planning a back to school contest in September, and a holiday giveaway in December.
