Greenwood Village, CO (PRWEB) July 27, 2011
Colorado State University-Global Campus (CSU-Global), the nation’s leading public online university, released today its fiscal year 2011 results. CSU-Global reported that in FY11, largely based on its innovative academic and operational models, the university grew its nontraditional adult student body to over 4000 students, recorded a student retention rate that exceeded 80% semester-to-semester, electronically tracked and documented student achievement of learning outcomes, and graduated over 400 students.
In FY11, CSU-Global was also granted independent accreditation status by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and made a repayment of its initial start-up loan provided by the Colorado State University System. CSU-Global was created by the CSU System Board of Governors to help fulfill its vision to build a stronger future for Colorado through access to higher education opportunity; the university is the first public four-year university in Colorado to be accredited since 1971.
CSU-Global was designed to meet the current and future challenges facing higher education as it serves nontraditional adult learners and working professionals between the ages of 25 and 64 years old. The university does not receive state funding but was originally funded with a $12 million loan from the CSU System of which $4 million was recently repaid.
“We have appreciated the trust that the CSU System Board of Governors and our sister institutions have demonstrated through our start-up period and we look forward to being able to continue to contribute to the overall success of the CSU System in its service to Coloradoans and beyond,” said Dr. Becky Takeda-Tinker, president of CSU-Global Campus. “CSU-Global Campus exceeded its academic, operational and financial expectations for FY11, and we are pleased to be able to share our success as we continue to achieve our mission.”
Colorado State University-Global Campus was created by the CSU System Board of Governors in 2008 and recognized as a statutorily independent university by an act of the Colorado General Assembly in 2009. The originating loan from the CSU System helped CSU-Global pay its initial startup expenses and operational costs. CSU-Global is an online public university with a self-funded, tuition-driven revenue model.
CSU-Global currently offers bachelor’s of science degree-completion programs in Applied Social Sciences, Business Management, Information Technology, Organizational Leadership, and Public Management as well as master’s of science Degree Programs in Management, Organizational Leadership, and Teaching & Learning. Certificate of Completions and Specializations are also available. In response to its adult learner needs, CSU-Global also provides a Tuition Guarantee that locks in a student’s tuition rate upon initial enrollment for all courses until graduation. Applications are being accepted now for fall terms with flexible start dates every four weeks. Students can apply online at csuglobal.org or call (800) 920-6723 for more information.
