Jim Sweeney joins Vintage Wine Estates as Executive Vice President, Sales, reporting to Pat Roney, Vintner/President. “Jim will move us to the next level of professionalism and penetration in the marketplace,” Roney said in making the announcement. Sweeney will supervise a portfolio including Cosentino Winery, Girard, Sonoma Coast Vineyards, Windsor Sonoma, Grove Street, Stone Fly, Fire Station and Vintage Wine Estate’s own wines as well as International Wine Accessories’ collection of wine-related products.
Most recently, Sweeney was founding partner at Huneeus Vintners, a portfolio of fine wines owned representing estates in Napa Valley, the Sonoma Coast and Chile. Sweeney has been involved in building both wine portfolios and sales teams throughout his career. Jim was the Director of Sales for Franciscan Estates, later became Senior Vice President, Sales for Icon Estates and subsequently Founding Partner of Huneeus Vintners, a collection of premium wines including Quintessa, Faust, Flowers, Prisoner, and Veramonte in Chile. Prior to the supplier side, Jim had been General Sales Manager of two major distributors in Texas.
Sweeney lives with his family in St. Helena. His philanthropic interests include The Young School in St. Helena as well as the Napa County chapter of The Red Cross and the Boy Scouts troop in St. Helena. Sweeney is a graduate of University of Texas at Austin, and has an MBA from National University.
