Thirty Wounded Warriors To Jump For A Purpose

Daily Deals Exclusively For The Military

The event is a celebration of the men and women who symbolize the selfless spirit necessary to support our way of life.

Today, announced that Skydive Suffolk will shut down public operations on August 14th, 2011 in order to allow thirty Wounded Warriors to skydive. The event, which will pair certified skydiving instructors with Wounded Warriors from every conflict dating back to the Korean War, is a celebration of the men and women who symbolize the selfless spirit necessary to support our way of life.

TroopSwap COO Matthew Thompson observed, “The scars of battle are borne by the individual, but the burden of ensuring that our Wounded Warriors are continually celebrated and cared for falls on every citizen of this country. We are bringing the Hampton Roads community together to celebrate these brave veterans and to raise awareness of the cost of freedom.”

The goal of the event is to raise $10,000 dollars for 501 (c) 3 charities that support Wounded Warriors and their families. TroopSwap is looking for businesses and individuals to sponsor each of the thirty Wounded Warriors ($249 per jumper) and to provide in-kind services for the event. Event sponsors are wanted in order to reach the $10,000 dollar goal. Interested parties may contact sponsor(at)troopswap(dot)com for more information.

Skydive Suffolk , the area’s premier skydiving company, will open up their aircraft hangar to entertainers who will perform through the day. Unique sports cars are wanted for display in the hangar. Donations at the gate are encouraged. All are invited to participate in a day of skydiving, music and community in honor of our Wounded Warriors.
